The project consists of the construction of a new plant and headquarters for LG Cloutier, working in the design and manufacture of specialized parts for the medical, aeronautical, industrial, energy and transport sectors.
The new spaces include a ground floor of 91,200 sq.ft. for the machining activities, but also for the reception and services for the plant. Upstairs, there is the administrative office sector, with an area of 13,600 sq.ft. A footbridge runs along these to have a view of the complete factory. The exterior architecture is very modern and incorporates decorative architectural panels produced by the LG Cloutier machine shop.
The budget compliance was a challenge in this project. Our advice and our expertise have made it possible to find solutions to reduce the cost and support the client in his decisions and choices. The schedule being also an issue, we decided to carry out several disciplines in design build to accelerate the process and at the same time to benefit from the expertise of the subcontractors.
For example, overhead cranes with a very long span and with large capacities had to be coordinated with all the other disciplines and everything was optimized in terms of heights to ensure good coordination on the site, but keeping an economical building height. The client’s equipment had special requirements in terms of weight and vibration, everything was coordinated with the project team and the work on site to ensure that the requirements for this equipment were met.
